PARIS, 7 Sep. (by EUROPA PRESS special correspondent Ramón Chamorro) –
Spanish swimming ended its participation in the Paralympic Games in Paris on Saturday without adding another medal to the 15 it has amassed in the La Défense Arena pool and after a day in which it only competed in one final with a mixed relay.
The quartet formed by Nahia Zudaire, Ariel Schrenck, Sarai Gascón and Íñigo Llopis were never in the fight for medals and finished seventh with a time of 4:10.99, after a final in which they were never close to the podium.
In the morning heats, neither David Sánchez (100 backstroke S6), Miguel Luque (50 backstroke S4), Daniel Ferrer (200 freestyle S3) nor Berta García (200 medley SM4) were able to qualify for their respective finals, so swimming ended with 15 medals, two golds, that of Anastasiya Dmytriv in 100 breaststroke S8 and Íñigo Llopis in the 100 backstroke S8, four silvers and nine bronzes, leaving it in fourteenth position in this sport.
