The president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, has valued MADCUP 2022 this Monday, a project “full of future and youth” that has celebrated the success of its second edition, with nearly 600 participating teams and more than 10,000 players and trainers, at the Wanda Metropolitano.
“In this second edition, the MADCUP has grown significantly, being a great international reference with only two years of life. Cerezo was in charge of welcoming the 600 teams that are competing in MADCUP 22, which started on June 24. “It is much more than a tournament, it is an educational project with the schools of our Community. I would like to highlight the role of the media in disseminating this tournament. It is a project full of future and youth”, he stressed.
“Several of the most important clubs in the world are present at MADCUP, I want to thank the involvement of Real Madrid and other clubs such as PSG, Porto or Tigres de México. All the Madrid academy football clubs are there, as well as the different CCAA. We are positioning Spain and the Community of Madrid as the venue for the world championship of training clubs”, highlighted Cerezo.
Along with the president of Atlético de Madrid, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Community of Madrid, Marta Rivera de la Cruz; the second deputy mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Alberto Blázquez; the rector of the University of Alcalá, José Vicente Saz; the president of the Real Madrid Football Federation, Paco Díez; the managing director of the EMT, Alfonso Sánchez; and the actor Miguel Ángel Muñoz.
