The MAPFRE League arrives in Valencia after the success of Barcelona

The second day of the Mapfre League, organized by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), will be held at CT Valencia from Friday to Sunday with the presence of Spanish tennis players “Top 100” in the ATP ranking under great security measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic and with popular prices.

The presentation ceremony of the conference, held this Monday at the Valencian club, was attended by its president, Paz Zúnica; the president of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Miguel Díaz; the general director of l'Esport, Josep Miquel Moya; the provincial sports deputy, Andrés Campos; Enric Carbonell, from the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation; the Valencian tennis player Pablo Andújar; and the general secretary of the Tennis Federation of the Valencian Community Ana Ortells.

Zúnica explained the security measures of the tournament, which will have a limited capacity of three hundred people and two shifts in the afternoon, one at 5:00 p.m. and the other at 9:00 p.m., while in the morning entry will be free and will start at 11 a.m. hours with the wheelchair tournament.

The competition groups are not yet known, but Zúnica encouraged fans to attend this event, since “it is a unique experience to come and see extraordinary tennis” and stressed that “it will not be easy to see tennis of this level in Valencia again”.

Carbonell affirmed that the celebration of the Mapfre League fulfills the main objective of the entity, which is to revive the economy with sports, attract large events and be useful for athletes.

Pablo Andújar was proud that his tennis club hosts an event promoted by the Spanish Tennis Federation and explained that for them it is very important to “return to normal activity” and compete.

Ana Ortells stressed that this celebration will be positive for local tennis and stressed the importance of clubs “taking on the challenge” of holding competitions.

Moya wanted to thank the protocols and maximum safeguards are carried out and he wanted to invite tennis fans to come, responsibly, and also see the wheelchair tournament.

Miguel Díaz: “The first day has been very good, with great games”

The president of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), Miguel Díaz, explained this Monday at the presentation of the second day of the Mapfre League at CT Valencia that the first day, which has been played This weekend in Barcelona has been a “very good experience with great matches”.

Díaz remarked that the experience in Barcelona has been positive and recalled that the federative objective was that this type of tournament “necessary for athletes” serves as preparation before the return to international competition, which is expected to be in early August, “in fifteen or twenty days.”

He also alluded to wheelchair tennis, present in this League. “Wheelchair tennis is a spectacular modality that few people know about. In addition to the effort they make like any tennis player, they have to go with their chair, which forces them to have tremendous and spectacular physical conditions, “he explained.

Finally, Díaz added that the players who are present in Valencia they will give a show just as good as in Barcelona and he stated that “whoever really likes tennis will be able to spend eight hours watching it without costing them work, because we are going to enjoy a lot. I encourage people to spend the weekend in Valencia because it is worth it “

The second edition of the competition will be held at the Valencian club from Friday to Sunday.
