The Manager kicks off the electoral process: the challenge for the candidates is to achieve 2,257 signatures

The Management Board chaired by Carles Tusquets, which has taken almost two months to officially call the elections when it was the absolute priority of this body, finally officially announced the date of the elections, January 24, with the great novelty of decentralization due to the pandemic – it will be possible to vote in ten venues spread throughout the Spanish territory – with an established schedule between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., uninterruptedly, but with the exception that they will run a series of time slots to avoid crowds when voting.

The census of voting partners has yet to be completed, but the club has already announced that there will be around 110,000 members, distributed as follows: 93% in Catalonia, 4% in the rest of the State and 3% abroad. As voting by mail or electronic mail is prohibited, This 3% of foreign partners will have a very difficult time exercising their right to vote.

Not so much the members residing outside of Catalonia, since have an electoral seat in Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Palma de Mallorca and Andorra la Vella. In Catalonia, the venues will be distributed in the Camp Nou, Girona, Tarragona, Tortosa and Lleida.

The pre-candidates now they also know the official number of signatures they have to get to proclaim themselves candidates: a total of 2,257. Between December 23 and January 11 they will have time to collect the ballots and get the support of the member. The signatures that are collected will be validated by the Electoral Table between January 12 and 14, which will be in charge of announcing, at the end of the count, the number of pre-candidates that passes the cut and the official proclamation as candidates to start the electoral campaign, proper, which will last seven days.

The first step of the electoral process will take place this Wednesday, December 16, with the official publication of the call, the public draw for the election of five partners that will form part of the Board and the Electoral Table, whose function is to ensure the correct operation of the process. The draw will take place at 10 am in the Auditori 1899. The Table will be constituted on December 22 and a day later the candidates will be able to pass through the offices to collect the ballots.
