The Lenovo Tenerife, to get up to stay alive
The canaries receive a Joventut who swept the first quarterfinal duel
MADRID, 28 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Lenovo Tenerife will try to tie the Endesa League quarter-final tie in the second game this Sunday (1:00 p.m.) against Club Joventut de Badalona, a match that comes marked by the impressive victory of the Catalans last Thursday, all a statement of intent.
The Canaries, champions of the Eurocup just two weeks ago, have shown a great capacity for recovery this season and play this Sunday with no margin for error. A defeat would leave them without a season and a victory would allow the series to stretch to the third and final match that would be played at the Olímpic.
To do this they must forget the rapa dust received in Badalona last Wednesday (100-68), a marker that “should see again and again” before playing the second round. This was explained by Txus Vidorreta, coach of the team from Tenerife, very hurt after having lost the first stake “at halftime” without that competitive capacity that has defined them this season.
For its part, Carles Durán’s team wants to close the ticket to the semifinals on the fast track and will try to surprise in a pavilion where they already won this season in the regular League (72-79). The ‘penya’ was impressive before his public and -at least- has already guaranteed the ‘field factor’ for a hypothetical third game.
“We are going to Tenerife with the idea of trying to score the second point and focused on trying to get into the rhythm of the game and continue doing a good defensive job. Tenerife feels very comfortable playing at home but we have to focus on ourselves. attack and defense, but the mentality with which we must go is to be able to make it 2-0”, said Duran in the previous one.
The black-and-green coach will not be able to count on Vladimir Brodziansky, but he will be able to count on the rest of the squad, which arrives with great confidence after having managed -in the first duel- that up to 7 players scored 10 or more points.
For its part, the Lenovo Tenerife is clear that they must change their attitude. “The first thing we have to do is change the image we gave in Badalona,” said point guard Marcelinho Huertas. “We have to match the defensive aggressiveness and I’m sure our fans will help us a lot”, added the Brazilian ‘playmaker’.
