The Kings attend the funeral this Monday for the victims of the floods in the Valencia Cathedral

The Kings will be at the Valencia Cathedral this Monday to participate in the funeral organized by the archbishopric in memory of the victims of the devastating floods that shook the Valencian Community and other regions on October 29. The religious event will not have representation from the Government, which has already announced the preparation of a civil ceremony in tribute to the deceased. In contrast, the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, and the leadership of the Popular Party at the national level will be present.

This is the third visit of the Kings to Valencia after the tragedy. On November 3, they went to Paiporta, where they experienced a tense moment due to criticism from some neighbors for the management of the disaster. Later, on November 19, they visited the towns of Chiva, Utiel (Valencia) and Letur (Albacete), where they met with victims and rescue teams. Furthermore, the King, alone, was on November 12 at the military bases where the armed forces involved in relief and reconstruction work operate.

This commitment in Valencia occurs one day before the Kings begin their first state visit to Italy, scheduled from tomorrow until Thursday. During their stay in Rome, they will participate in official events and bilateral meetings. The trip also includes an academic event in Naples, where on Thursday the King will be awarded the title of honorary doctor by the Federico II University, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country. The presence of the Kings at these events reflects their continued support for the victims of the floods and their involvement in strengthening international relations, at a time of high symbolic and diplomatic burden.
