The King celebrates Alcaraz’s victory at Roland Garros, “a joy that he gave yesterday” to Spain

ZARAGOZA, 10 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

King Felipe VI has celebrated the victory of the 21-year-old Spanish tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, at Roland Garros, where he was proclaimed champion in the final he played this Sunday, against the German Alexander Zverev, and has considered it “a joy” that he gave to Spain yesterday.

At the end of a visit to the National Training Center of San Gregorio, in Zaragoza, on the occasion of the ‘Exercise Atlas 24’ maneuvers, the King highlighted that Alcaraz is an “early” champion, congratulated him and commented that he saw the party accompanied by his family.

“This is only the first, champion! Many more Roland Garros will come. Congratulations Carlos Alcaraz,” wrote Casa Real in a message on the ‘X’ social network, collected by Europa Press.

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz was proclaimed champion of Roland Garros after beating the German Alexander Zverev in five sets in the final, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, thus achieving the third Grand Slam’ of his record on a new surface, king of the land after showing off the last two years at the US Open and Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old from Murcia, the youngest in history to reach the finals on all three surfaces, demonstrated once again that he was made for glory on a Sunday of maximum tension at the Philippe Chatrier against a Zverev who, after winning in Rome was at its best. Alcaraz suffered especially in the third set but recovered his game in time to start his own story in Paris.
