The Court of Instruction number 3 of Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville) has filed the case for the traffic accident of the former player of the Seville José Antonio Reyes, occurred on June 1, 2019 on the A-376 highway (Seville-Utrera) after the request of the Seville Road Safety Prosecutor's Office for the end of the process due to the impossibility of continuing with the exercise of criminal action after the death of the “Criminally responsible”.
In the accident, in addition to the former soccer player, who was driving the vehicle, his cousin Jonathan Reyes died, while another cousin of his, Juan Manuel Calderón, who was co-pilot, was seriously injured.
The judge, also to file the case, also relied on the report prepared by the Civil Guard experts, which indicates that the accident was due to a combination of two causes. On the one hand, the blowout of the rear tire, which caused the driver to lose control of the car and, on the other, the excessive speed at which the vehicle was circulating, exceeding 187 kilometers, with which it was, at least, 67 kilometers over the allowed limit.
The wheel on which the tire suffered the blowout, according to the report from the Guardia Civi, had been repaired from a cracked rim, a circumstance that causes the loss of pressure. “The heat that is generated in the tires during the running-in is proportional to the travel speed and if a vehicle rolls at high speed for a long time with overload or inflation pressure lower than that described with high weather temperatures, its temperature increases, which it causes the alteration of the tire and makes the tire very sensitive to breakage or bursting ”, explains the report of the technicians of this department.
The Mercedes went off the road and overturned several times
The car, a high-powered Mercedes Benz S 550, had a partial exit from the road on the left side and a contact with a metal protection barrier. After an evasive maneuver, he left the road again on the right bank, where after colliding with a gutter gutter, a metal protection fence for the highway and a fence of a private property, he experienced several overturns on a dirt road until its position, where the ignition and fire of the vehicle finally occurred.
The former player, along with his relatives, returned from training with Extremadura, whose staff he was part of, and returned to his home in Utrera.
