The journalist Gloria Lomana says goodbye to her husband Josep Piqué “dismayed”: “The love of my life”

“Dismayed by the death of the love of my life, Josep. Thank you for the love you are transmitting to me. Hours before, she was in charge of communicating, together with the children of the former minister and businessman, the sad news of the death of her husband, at only 68 years of age after a tough battle against the disease. She adds Lomana that the last goodbye may be given to the deceased businessman tomorrow, Good Friday, at the M-30 Funeral Home, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The former president of the Cercle d’Economia died at the 12 de Octubre clinic in Madrid this morning, according to the note released by the family.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our husband and father, Josep Piqué Camps, on October 12 in Madrid. His personal integrity, his strength, his love for the family, work and his fight for life will always accompany us, “says her widow along with the children of the foreign minister with José María Aznar. Gloria Lomana and Josep Piqué got married in 2009.

Aznar appointed Piqué Minister of Industry and Government spokesman, and in 2000, after winning by an absolute majority, he was appointed Foreign Minister, a position he held until 2002, when he became in charge of the Science and Technology portfolio. From 2002 to 2007 he was president of the PP of Catalonia.

After leaving politics, he continued with a great business and institutional activity, which stood out for being president of the Economics Circle of Barcelona between 2011 and 2013 (he had already been between 1995 and 1996, before being minister), president of Vueling and member of the board of directors of companies such as Seat and Aena. Piqué was married to the journalist Gloria Lomana.

He also held the position of CEO of Foreign Policy, an editorial group focused on the analysis of international relations whose advisory council is made up of all the former ministers of Foreign Affairs of Spain.

Tragedy strikes Gloria Lomana again

Gloria Lomana was undoubtedly one of the most powerful and influential journalists. In August 2020, the hardest year of the pandemic, Lomana lost her brother suddenly: he suffered a stroke, was transferred to a nursing home without notifying the family and died shortly after. “During the transfer they called me to say goodbye to him,” the communicator explained then, full of sadness.
