The International Olympic Committee (IOC) published this Monday the highlights of the Interim Report of the Olympic Agenda 2020+5, a roadmap that helps them prepare for the challenges of “this new world” and that should help The Paris Games are “of a new era.”

The Olympic Agenda 2020+5 is a set of 15 recommendations that were inspired by the trends of solidarity, digitalization, sustainable development, credibility, economic and financial resilience, “all of them identified as areas where sport and the values ​​of Olympism can play a role. key role”.

“The Olympic Agenda 2020+5 is being implemented with the commitment and active participation of all members, stakeholders and partners of the Olympic Movement, including the United Nations (UN) and NGOs that support the mission and values ​​of the Movement” , stressed the IOC.

In this sense, the president of the organization, Thomas Bach, recalled that the world “has changed fundamentally in recent years.” “As we anticipated at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, we now face its far-reaching social, financial, economic and political consequences, which are exacerbated by the ongoing conflicts, wars and natural disasters that we must address” , he expressed.

“Olympic Agenda 2020+5 is our roadmap to prepare for this new world and we can be proud of the progress that has been made on the 15 recommendations since their adoption in March 2021. The achievements described in this report are excellent examples of what we can achieve together and are testament to the enormous amount of work that has been carried out in partnership with our stakeholders,” he added.

For the German leader, “there is still much to do.” “But we can now expect that the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be the Games of a new era, inspired by Olympic Agenda 2020 and Olympic Agenda 2020 + 5 from beginning to end,” he said.
