MADRID, 8 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The International Modern Pentathlon Federation (UIMP) clarified this Monday that the media reports on the designation of a new fifth sport to replace horse riding are “inaccurate” and that they have received “many good ideas and proposals” in this regard. .
The news of the last weeks have given almost certain that cycling will replace horse riding, but for the UIMP these media reports that “suggest that the new fifth discipline has already been chosen by the Executive Board are inaccurate.”
In this sense, Klaus Schormann, president of the UIPM, stressed that “the consultation process is open” and made it clear that “no decision has been made on the fifth discipline”. “We have received many good ideas and proposals from our community, which shows the opportunity that we have before us to create a new era for our beloved Olympic sport,” he stressed.
“All proposals will be evaluated by the consultation group and then by a specific working group. We thank our colleagues in the media for continually promoting the sport and our athletes with current news and responsible reporting. We also encourage former athletes to share their ideas and contributions with their National Federations, who will meet during the UIPM Congress on November 27 and 28, “he said.
