The International and European Rugby Federation have suspended Russia and Belarus from membership of their organizations and have barred the two teams from all official competition due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week.
“World Rugby reiterates its condemnation of Russia’s aggressive invasion of Ukraine and the facilitation of this action by Belarus. The global rugby family stands united in solidarity with all those affected by these deeply disturbing events and joins the global community. to call for the restoration of peace,” said World Rugby.
In its measures, the “full and immediate suspension of Russia and Belarus from all cross-border international and club rugby activities until further notice” as well as the “full and immediate suspension of the Russian Rugby Union as a member of World Rugby until new notice”.
