CF Intercity announced this Tuesday that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) authorized the change of facility to host the Copa del Rey round of 16 match between the Alicante team and FC Barcelona, which will be played at the José Rico Pérez stadium of Hercules CF.
“CF Intercity and Hércules de Alicante CF have reached an agreement so that the Copa del Rey round of 16 tie will be played at the José Rico Pérez stadium and the city of Alicante can host this great event on January 4th. at 9:00 p.m. The RFEF has officially communicated to the club its consent for said venue to host this important meeting,” the club said in a statement.
In this way, Intercity, which currently plays its matches at the Antonio Solana stadium, with a capacity for 4,000 spectators, will be able to have a venue with a larger capacity, such as the Hercules field, which has a capacity of 29,500 people.
The Alicante team also confirmed that thanks to this agreement all holders of the Hercules commitment card in the 20-21 season will be able to enter the match for free, while Intercity and Hercules season ticket holders, who do not have this card, will have an important discount on the ticket price for the general public.
Lastly, Intercity wanted to thank Hércules and its leaders for the “predisposition” for the Rico Pérez stadium to host this “important match”. “Thus, at the height of Christmas, all Alicante residents and football fans will be able to enjoy this great event in the conditions it requires, transferring the best possible image of our city to the entire country,” the statement concluded.
