The inter-penitentiary tournament ‘RFEF Cup 2023’ begins this Wednesday

MADRID, 10 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The XI edition of the Intercentre Penitentiary Tournament, organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Ministry of the Interior, will begin on April 12 and will be played by teams made up of inmates from 33 centers throughout Spain who will seek to reach the final June at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid).

This initiative, which aims to promote reintegration through sport, is developed by the RFEF, through its social responsibility department, and by Penitentiary Institutions. The goal is for inmates to gain coaching-level knowledge and enjoy motivational talks in prisons, given by former international players.

The competition will start this Wednesday in Badajoz, and will be developed in a first phase between the centers of Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Madrid, Cantabria, La Rioja, Navarra, Galicia, Murcia and the Valencian Community. This regional phase will give way to the national one with the champions of the first, with semifinals in Madrid and Antequera. The Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas will host the final in the first half of June.

The RFEF-Penitentiary Institutions program continues to grow. In recent months it has reached up to 43 centers thanks to the collaboration of 16 territorial federations. The Balearic Islands, Castilla y León and Tenerife have been the latest additions.
