Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong is the main casualty of FC Barcelona’s squad to visit Mallorca this Tuesday (9:30 p.m.), after being injured in the last domestic match against RC Celta, as announced by the Blaugrana club this Monday.
De Jong, an important piece for coach Xavi Hernández, suffered an injury to the distal tibioperoneal syndesmosis of his right ankle against the Galician team. The Dutchman was injured in the first half of the duel against Vigo, and was replaced in the 36th minute by Gavi.
The midfielder, who was present at training this Monday with crutches and an orthopedic boot, will be out indefinitely, so his presence in the Classic on October 28 is in doubt. Before, Barça will face Mallorca, Seville, Porto and Granada in the next two weeks.
The absence of De Jong is added to that of Pedri, being the only two footballers in the Barça infirmary. The canary has been suffering from an ailment in the rectus femoris of his right leg for a month and still has no return date.
Thus, Xavi Hernández drew up a squad to visit Son Moix of 20 footballers, comprised of goalkeepers Ter Stegen, Iñaki Peña and Astralaga; defenders Cancelo, Balde, Araujo, Inigo Martinez, Christensen, Marcos Alonso and Koundé; midfielders Gavi, Romeu, Sergi Roberto, Gündogan and Fermi Lopez; and strikers Ferran Torres, Lewandowski, Raphinha, Joao Felix and Lamine Yamal.
