The illustrator 72 kilos and WOT come together to give visibility to Spanish women’s sport

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, the Spanish illustrator 72 kilos has createdin collaboration with WOT, marketing and communication agency specializing solely in women’s sports, a series of vignettes to give visibility to female athletes, as well as the inconveniences they may encounter during their sports careers.

This series of vignettes, 9 in total, launch headlines with which to reflect on the difficulties that women who want to dedicate themselves or dedicate themselves professionally to sport can encounter. A difficult start, comments out of context, lower salaries or the lack of support for women’s sports are some of the most notable messages of this campaign.

For those who don’t know him yet, Óscar Alonso, better known as “72 kilos” is a Spanish illustrator with more than two million followers on his Instagram account. Since 2008 he has been developing his own style and has achieved great national recognition within the industry.

“When the WOT team contacted me to develop this idea, I didn’t hesitate. Being able to offer my grain of sand to help give visibility to women’s sports through my vignettes has been a real pleasure and I hope it really helps to achieve the recognition that athletes deserve” says Óscar Alonso.

For its part, Sarah Rojas, Founder of WOT (Women on Top) highlights: “International Women’s Day is ideal to claim that it is time to also think about women, that they are truly recognized and respected and, in the case of women’s sport, to ensure that each time more, they can have more support to dedicate themselves to what really makes them happy.”

With this campaign, in addition to making the talent of athletes visible, we want to launch a vindictive message in favor of women’s sport and its protagonists. Although considerable progress is being made, there is still a long way to go.
