MADRID, 29 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Former runners Ivan Basso, honoree, Miguel Indurain and Alberto Contador and nearly 8,000 cyclists participate in the twelfth edition of the Mallorca 312 march, which takes place this Saturday from Playa de Muro over three distances of 312, 225 and 167 kilometers, announced the organizers in its official presentation.
The event, held at Expo Mallorca, was attended by number 312, Ivan Basso, the CEO of Mallorca 312, Xisco Lliteras, the mayor of Muro, Miquel Porquer, the CEO of Supersapiens, Phil Sutherland, the Managing Director of the Agency Tourism Strategy for the Balearic Islands, Francesc Mateu and ministers Andreu Serra (Transition, Tourism and Sports), Iván Sevillano (Mobility and Infrastructures) and Fina Santiago (Social Affairs and Sports of the Balearic Government).
The authorities were joined by ex-runners Ivan Basso, Alberto Contador, Miguel Indurain, Tony Rominger, Joseba Beloki, Miquel Alzamora, Toni Tauler and Max Hürzeler.
Contador has given number 312 to his teammate Ivan Basso. “It is a real honor to be the honoree because although I have been in more editions, the call from Xisco made me very excited. My strategy is to go conservative because the Mallorca 312 is very long and first it is legs, then heart and, finally, head “, he commented.
The CEO of the Mallorca 312, Xisco Lliteras, has wished all the participants a good day of cycling. “They all deserve it after everything we’ve been through these years with the health emergency. Thanks to the authorities and sponsors we can revitalize this start of the season on the island of Mallorca”, he commented.
For his part, the mayor of Muro, Miquel Porquer, also wanted to thank all the towns through which the Mallorca 312 passes. “We know that it is a very big effort and without your help it would not have been possible,” he said.
