The Atlético de Madrid has presented its new kits for the 21/22 season, which are based on four historical milestones of the mattress club, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the current name of the club as ‘Club Atlético de Madrid ’.
FIRST EQUIPMENT, 1947
The home kit is inspired by some details of the first red-and-white jersey that the players wore in 1947 under the name of Athletic Club of Madrid. In that historical elastic, a central white stripe stood out that is recovered in this new design. In addition, a huge letter A is formed on the front with the central red stripes to continue the tribute to the Atlético de Madrid.
THE SECOND, THE DOUBLE
The away kit recalls a mythical moment in athletic history in the last 75 years: ‘the Double’. Inspired by the second shirt worn by the League and Cup heroes of the 95-96 season, dark blue and red combine to remind fans of that campaign in which the Kiko, Pantic, Caminero, Simeone, Vizcaíno, Solozábal and other rojiblancas legends achieved glory.
THE THIRD, EL CALDERÓN
And many of the feats achieved in these last 75 years were lived in the stadium Vicente Calderón. That is why the mythical stadium could not be missing in this tribute. The third kit will serve as a souvenir for what was the clubhouse for 50 years, as it combines the colors of the seats of the Vicente Calderón: red, white and blue, in addition to including a drawing of the stadium inside the neck.
THE FOURTH, THE SHIELD, AND THE BATTLE OF GLASGOW
To complete the tribute to this outstanding anniversary, a red kit inspired by two historical moments such as the semifinal of the European cup against him Celtic in Glasgow and the final of the Copa del Rey in 1985 against Athletic
Club. This shirt will show the shield that accompanied the change of name of Athletic Aviation to Atlético de Madrid on January 1, 1947 with the motto “75 years honoring your name” in the central part.
