The historic Colombian goalkeeper ‘Caimán’ Sánchez dies at 93

MADRID, Jan. 16 (SportsFinding) –

The Colombian exporter Efraín 'Caimán' Sánchez has died this Thursday at age 93 as reported by the Federation of the country, which regrets the death and has sent a “message of support and encouragement” to his family, friends and friends in “this difficult moment”.

Sanchez was born in Barranquilla on February 26, 1926 and forged his career in his native country, where he stood out as a figure in Millionaires, Caldas, America, Cali, Junior and Medellin, with which he won the first two stars of the Antioquia team in 1955 and 1957

In addition, in 1964 he was champion as coach of the Millionaires. Also, the goalkeeper was one of the outstanding players of the 'coffee' team, especially in his participation in the 1962 World Cup in Chile.

The president of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramón Jesurun, also showed his condolences. “He was my idol when I was young. I was fortunate to meet him and make a beautiful friendship with him. Football allowed me to see his professionalism and his wonderful gift of people. For me, and all who knew him, his death represents us immense pain, “he said.
