The ‘Hispanos’ fall to Denmark in their debut in the Golden League

MADRID, 19 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s handball team lost (28-25) this Saturday in a duel competed until the end with Denmark, in their first match of the Golden League, with the debuts in the senior team of Jaime Gallego and David Iglesias.

Spain returned to action after their silver in the last European Championship in this friendly tournament on Danish soil. The start was unproductive for both teams and the ‘Hispanos’ found rhythm with a 1-4 run after being down.

Once the presentations were made, equality remained on the scoreboard, with Jordi Ribera’s men holding on in a pavilion with 15,000 Danes pressing. So, Jaime Gallego enjoyed his first few minutes, serving in the center of defense and scoring.

After a 15-14 lead at the break, Agustín Casado put Spain back in the right direction, finding Abel Serdio and Imanol Garciandia. The exchange of blows pointed to a tight end but Denmark took advantage of a couple of superiorities to go on the scoreboard and win in the last minutes.

Ribera’s men will play again this Sunday (13:30), their second and last match in this Golden League against Norway at the Ceres Arena in Aarhus. The Nordic team has fallen in its first two commitments of the competition against Denmark and France.
