Holgado Spain's win (36-18) in the Palau d'Esports de Granollers

The Spanish men's handball team won this Friday by a comfortable 36-18 against Slovakia on the second day of the 2024 Spanish International Tournament (TIE), which is being held at the Palau d'Esports in Granollers, with an outstanding performance by Spanish goalkeeper Sergey Hernández due to his twenty saves.
In the run-up to the European Championship, which will start on January 10 in Germany, the 'Hispanics' were much more convincing than the day before against Poland. However, Jordi Ribera's men started 0-3 down and did not open their scoring account until after 4:15 minutes, through young Dani Fernández Jiménez.
Of course, from that moment on Spain went on a rampage thanks to the success of Aleix Gómez and Ángel Fernández on the wing. Sergey Hernández's streak under the goal contributed significantly to the great 'Hispanic' version, repelling shots from Lukás Urban, Erik Fenár and Matús Moravcík everywhere.
Only Jakub Prokop found any way to beat Sergey Hernández, author of 11 interventions before the break. To comfortably reach that stage, the Spanish team had scored directly with goals on the counterattack and with accurate shots from Jorge Maqueda, Ian Tarrafeta and Miguel Sánchez-Migallón from medium distance.
ALEIX GÓMEZ SENTENCE THE MARKER
The Slovak starting goalkeeper, Marián Zernovic, was replaced by Igor Cupryna at halftime (18-8). However, the dynamics did not change one bit due to the inspiration of Sergey Hernández. From the bench, Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas was a luxury witness, who on matchday 1 against Poland had had his own share of prominence.
The Spanish goals continued to fall easily thanks to the brothers Álex and Dani Dujshebaev, thanks to good combinations with Agustín Casado on six meters. On the Slovak side, only Lukás Péchy was able to join the scoring team with his namesake Lukás Urban, and in the final stretch also with Dávid Misovych who made up the result.
The beating had been forged a long time ago with goals from Aleix Gómez, several from seven-meter throws, and that is why Jordi Ribera had taken the opportunity to rotate the squad and even sit down to rest in the final stages. Large victory for the 'Hispanos' one day before playing against Serbia (7:00 p.m.) in the same Valles venue.
