The ‘Hispanics’ give an account of Poland and follow its plenary session

Spain surpasses the hostess and approaches the crosses in the World Cup

MADRID, 18 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Spanish men’s handball team took another step on its way to medals in the World Championship by beating Poland (27-23) this Wednesday at the start of the ‘Main Round’, a decisive phase that it faces in quarterfinal positions of end.

Jordi Ribera’s team worked on their entry at the key moment of the tournament at the TAURON Arena in Krakow. The ‘Hispanics’ carried the weight of the match against the host, looking for their best defensive disposition and a step forward in the second half from the saves of Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas and the direction of Alex Dujshebaev.

Thus, Spain adds six points, full of victories, equaled with France in the two places that give access to the quarterfinals in Group 1, pending the remaining matches against Slovenia and the Gauls on Friday and Sunday. Poland, who advanced without points, pushed as expected to hold on to their tournament without success.

The runner-up in Europe and world bronze is progressing once again in a major tournament, refining her game and the rotation to begin to glimpse the date with the medals. Poland once again squeezed Szymon Sicko (7 goals) and Moryto (5) but when their gasoline began to fail, the hostess had more wish than game.

Ribera’s team started with a 5:1 defense that didn’t work, without recovery actions to help give rhythm to the attack. Alex Dujshebaev energized the Spanish game, but before the break they lost the initiative (16-15) in a tight score despite a correct first half.

The change to 6:0 left a better version of the ‘Hispanics’, although Poland knew how to adapt and stand up. The departures of the center-back Jedraszczyk, the play of Olejniczak and the two aforementioned gunners, gave Poland arguments in a pavilion that was not playing as an eighth player. The restart was not as desired, with a five-minute traffic jam, but Spain remained faithful to its plan and also found the saves of Pérez de Vargas.

Cañellas put an important maximum in favor of Ribera’s team and the second half ended soon (21-17). The problems of Jedraszczyk, Sicko and Moryto were in sparks and, in another rush after the red card to Walczak for a strong blow to Gideon Guardiola, Spain strengthened the mattress to tie a vital victory.
