GRANOLLERS (BARCELONA), 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s handball team fell this Friday to Norway (27-21) in the semifinal of ‘their’ World Cup and will fight on Sunday for the bronze medal against Denmark, which lost against France in the first of the semifinals played at the Palau d’Esports de Granollers.

The ‘Warriors’ were in tow in the first half but clenched nails and teeth in defense to be able to see light also in attack and reach the break with a hopeful 11-11. Even so, Norway pressed after the break and took a comfortable income that discouraged those of José Ignacio Prades.

With an unstoppable Nora Mork and great saves by Katrine Lunde – the best of the game – in goal, Norway was too much for a Spanish team that seemed to disconnect from the game when, in the second half, they received a resounding partial. Despite Silvia Navarro’s good performance between sticks, this time the defensive 6-0 did not annul Norway.

The Scandinavians will play again in a World Cup final after missing the 2019 one, from which they were separated by a Spain that was runner-up. Now, Norway will fight for another gold (the most recent were in 2015 and 2011) and the ‘Warriors’ for a bronze that would entail repeating metal in two consecutive World Cups.
