The goal of the USTA: without quarantines after the US Open

The Web Opencourt.ca, close to the US Open organization, reveals more details of the conditions and guidelines that the tournament and the USTA are carrying out for the US Open, which starts in late August, finally get ahead. Some of the players' reluctance was that, after playing the tournament in New York, they should go through a quarantine when they return to Europe and miss the earth turns of Madrid and Rome, which are practically followed after the American appointment. We review some of the news:

-The official tournament hotel for players, in the absence of official confirmation, is for now the Long Island Marriott.

-New York State guidelines and current tournament plan allow each player one person with additional credentials to access the tournament venue. Later, if they meet the requirements, they can receive two more invitations.

-Tests to find out if a player has developed antibodies are not mandatory. The PCRs, which say at the moment if a player is infected, obviously yes.

-If a player tests positive and shares a hotel room, he will be transferred to a separate room. If he or she arrives between August 15 and 18 and tests positive, they would be allowed to recover in isolation in their hotel room for the 14 days and, if the chief physician gives the go-ahead, they could continue to prepare for the tournament.

-There may not be more than 30 players at the same time inside the changing rooms.

-The tournament differs from the local public health authority for contact tracking, but has added technology to the badge scanning system to help locate anyone a player has come in contact with.

-The exception of certain players from the 14-day quarantine directive upon arrival in Europe is not ruled out for now. The USTA told the players that “it will continue to work with the International Federation, WTA and ATP to advocate for US Open participants to obtain entry waivers in Madrid, Rome and / or Paris. This last point, for which “they will continue working”, is the one that most worries the players.
