The two-year-old girl who received a shot during a game of Houston Astros against the Chicago Cubs of the MLB, the professional baseball league of U.S, suffers “irreparable brain damage” and will have to receive medication “for the rest of his life”, according to a family spokesman, in a statement that includes the Houston Chronicle.
The incident occurred on last may at Minute Maid Park, Astros Stadium, when the Cubs hitter Albert Almora Jr threw the ball. The spokesman of the family informed that the girl, whose identity has not been revealed, suffered a skull fracture, has had multiple seizures and has affected the nervous system. “She has been able to continue her routine as a child of her age, although with her parents watching her all the time.”
The spokesman declined to comment on the alleged legal actions that could be taken against the Astros. The MLB has announced that during the start of the 2020 season, the 30 league teams will have extended networks in front of the stands to prevent such incidents.
In August 2018, a 79-year-old fan died at Dodgers Stadium after receiving the impact of a ball. A year earlier, another two-year-old girl was also injured in the face at Yankee Stadium.
