The German Manuel Lettenbichler reissues his Hard Enduro world crown in Aguilar de Campoo

MADRID, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The German rider Manuel Lettenbichler was crowned this Sunday the 2023 Hard Enduro world champion, a title that he repeats and conquers for the third time in his career, after winning the test held in the Palencia town of Aguilar del Campoo.

The German rider took victory in the 24MX Hixpania Hard Enduro, the only World Championship event of this specialty that takes place in Spain, and ended the excitement in the World Championship with his fifth victory of the campaign.

The Hard Enduro weekend in Aguilar de Campoo did not start as expected, since the organization had to cancel the SuperEncierro on Friday due to the slippery track, although it was held later without points at stake to please the assembled public.

On Saturday, the Campoo Lost, which ended up giving him his third world title after those in 2019 and 2022.

In a natural setting and with a demanding circuit due to its unevenness, rugged passes and impossible climbs, Lettenbichler led the test with authority despite Bolt’s attempt to resist, who was losing ground little by little since in the end he finished third after being overtaken by the Spanish Mario Román (Sherco).

After this event in Spain, the 2023 season of the discipline will conclude on November 3 and 4 when the 24MX Getzenrodeo is held, the sixth round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.

“I feel a little speechless. I knew I was going to have a lot of pressure, but I tried not to let it affect me. I already had four wins and the fans expected me to win this one too, but it wasn’t easy because my rivals were very strong, especially these last two days. Winning the title with one race to spare is a unique feeling,” Lettenblicher celebrated in statements provided by his team.

For his part, Mario Román was “very happy” with his second place “at home.” “It is very special and I thank my family and all the people who have made it possible. It has been a very complicated season, but in the end I was able to achieve a good result at home. The only thing missing is Germany and I hope to reach fourth place in the championship,” commented the Spaniard, who is fifth overall, one point behind the Bulgarian Teodor Kabakchiev (KTM).
