FRANKFURT (GERMANY), June 26 (dpa/EP) –
The German Football Federation (DFB) will not pay any prize money to the German women’s team beyond the premiums offered by FIFA in the next World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the agency informed dpa on Monday.
The players who win the title in the tournament that will be played between July 20 and August 20 will receive about 247,320 euros each from FIFA. Last year, the DFB offered the men’s team €400,000 for a possible win in Qatar; the team, however, was eliminated in the group stage.
FIFA will pay 110 million dollars -more than 100 million euros- in total prize money to the 32 teams in the 2023 World Cup, a significant increase compared to 30 million dollars -27.4 million euros- in 2019 and the 15 million -13.7 million euros- of 2015. Each player who participates in the World Cup is guaranteed a minimum of 30,000 dollars -27,480 euros-.
