A break by the French tennis player in the first game of the second round, the only one in the entire match, was irretrievable for Sabalenka, and Garcia lifted the title after an hour and 42 minutes of fighting. Thus, he will end the year as number four in the world.

“Sometimes you get desperate or things don’t go your way. There’s a fight and you have to find your way through it. At some points you can’t do anything, and you just have to get back as fast as you can to the other side, that is one of the most important points that I improved. Today one of the most important things was to stay calm and take advantage of every opportunity”, highlighted Garcia, the second Frenchwoman to lift the trophy after Amélie Mauresmo in 2005.
