The First and Second referees show their “solidarity” with the women’s soccer collegiate

“A professional competition should not have an amateur group of referees directing it”

MADRID, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The referees of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank have shown their support for the women’s soccer referees and assistant referees, who on Saturday did not appear to direct the matches of the newly released F League as a protest against their employment and economic situation.

“The group of professional referees of the First and Second Division, through this statement, we want to show solidarity with our fellow referees of the First Professional Women’s Division in their claim to achieve working conditions in accordance with the professional status of the aforementioned category,” they said in a statement. .

On Thursday, the assistant referees and referees showed their “unanimous” refusal to whistle the F League matches in protest at “the current conditions of uncertainty” of their “labour and economic” situation. The next day, the Professional Women’s Soccer League (LPFF) warned that it would not accept “any blackmail from any group or institution” and that it would not suspend the first day, requesting the intervention of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), which in turn showed this Friday its support for the female arbitration group.

This Saturday, Atlético de Madrid-Real Sociedad, Alhama-Madrid CFF, Villarreal-Real Madrid and UDG Tenerife-Athletic Club had to be suspended due to the non-appearance of the referees.

“The time that our colleagues dedicate to the development of their performance both in training and preparation, as well as in trips and performances, make it unfeasible to be able to combine their arbitration work with the performance of other professions and therefore require dedication”, point out their male companions.

“A professional competition should not have an amateur group of female referees directing it, since all the clubs that make it up are professional. All levels of football must unite to ensure that our women’s football improves and achieves the global recognition that our team deserves. competition”, they concluded.
