MADRID, 2 Apr. (SportsFinding) –
The ‘Final Four’ of the Women’s European Futsal Championship, which was postponed from its initial location in March due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, will finally be held from July 1 to 3 at the already planned venue in Gondomar (Portugal). ).
The tournament, which was to be played from March 25 to 27 after a first postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2021, was suspended again last month due to the war in Ukraine, one of the participating teams along with Spain, current champion, and Portugal.
UEFA’s sanction against Russia, which had qualified for the event, will prevent the participants from the first edition from repeating themselves and will allow another team, which will be announced by UEFA in the coming days, to play the final four.
On Friday, July 1, the semifinals will be played, and on Sunday, July 3, both the match for bronze and the final will be played. Spain will face Ukraine in the first semi-final, and Portugal – which was drawn with Russia – will face the national team decided by UEFA. The players summoned by Clàudia Pons will try to repeat their victory in a new edition of the competition.
