The International Automobile Federation (FIA) confirmed this Friday that next Tuesday, April 18, it will study the claim filed by Ferrari against the sanction imposed on the Spanish driver Carlos Sainz for his contact with Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) in the past Australian Grand Prix .
The man from Madrid received a five-second penalty from the commissioners for his incident with the Asturian’s ‘AMR23’ in the fight for third position after a new start in the final laps of the event on April 2. The Spaniard finished fourth, but dropped to twelfth place.
Ferrari filed an appeal against the sanction on April 6 and this Friday FIFA reported that the Australian GP commissioners had received “a letter from Nikolas Tombazis”, the organization’s director of Single-Seaters, where the request from the ‘Scuderia ‘ for “a review” of this decision and a request to consider it “and make a determination as to whether a significant and relevant new element exists in relation to the decision/incident.”
“The drivers and team representatives must appear before the stewards for a virtual hearing to take place.
on April 18, 2023 at 08:00 in relation to this request,” the FIA added.
