“The feeling I have for Atlético is independent of my dad being there”

Giovanni Simeone, the eldest son of Cholo, who plays for Cagliari in the Italian Serie A, is starring in a spectacular start to the campaign, with five goals in seven games played. This weekend he has passed through the Sport Weekend 2020 Brand, where he has prepared the present and has also talked about Atlético de Madrid.

“It is important, but this is just beginning. It is clear that it is a push to continue on the right path. I like what I am doing and it is clear that I am on the right track, but I have to focus a lot on continuing to work because it is what gives me strength for what is coming, “said the Argentine about the streak he is leading.

“My father always told me from‘ little boy ’that in Serie A I was going to learn a lot. He insisted that in Italy goals are worth double. He always repeated the same thing to me. I have not been in another league yet, but in Italy you work a lot, you create a lot of teamwork … That's what I like, what I'm learning. There are many games here and they are giving me a lot of experience, it is helping me to grow and I am aiming for that, to continue growing, because it is the way, “he explained about his journey in Serie A, where he has scored 50 goals in 150 games.

Regarding his future, he commented that “I'm good at Cagliari, but I want to change at some point in my career to continue growing. I like Spain or England very much. Playing in other countries makes you a better player. If it is to Spain, welcome to”.

And of course, Atlético's name is always on the table. “The feeling I have for Atlético is independent of what I feel because my dad is there. Since ‘little’ I was a fan of the club where my father was: Estudiantes, River, Catania … but I always had something from Atlético. I always carried it with me. Every time I played I put on my shirt and I was just another fan. Then my dad came back and that feeling was enhanced. It's curious. I did not play or live in Spain yet, but I feel Atlético as a second home. And that is a joy ”.
