The fans turn: ‘The neighborhood dreams together, falls together, gets up together’

there was desire. Very eager. The red-and-white fans had not been able to attend a training session for their team for more than two years and this Saturday the doors were opened to live one of those magical moments that only happen in Vallecas. The session was scheduled for 1:00 p.m., but fifteen minutes before the first fans who queued began to access the Fund. Little by little, the stands were populated with about 700 souls.

There was color, songs and passion. The first to jump onto the green was Iraola, who received one of the loudest applause. The applause continued as the squad emerged from the tunnel. It was his continuous fuel to do the exercises. For the races. To touch the ball. All by and for them. Nobody wanted to miss it. Even the affected players (Unai, Falcao, Saveljich…) showed up at some point in a stadium that resounded with ‘To arms’. This was only the appetizer of what awaits tomorrow Sunday against Sevilla.

The end of the party was emotional. A typhus was displayed that said: ‘This neighborhood dreams together, falls together, rises together’. Megaphone in hand, a representative of the fans spoke from the Fund: “We are here to thank you for the effort you have made so far.. At the beginning of the season we told you what we wanted from you, that you work hard on the pitch, that you sweat your shirt… It didn’t matter what happened, whether we won or lost. We have been the best venue in Europe, we have managed to reach a Cup semi-final 40 years later, you have been on the side of the fans when we were worst… And that few templates have done. Thank you very much”.

A roar of applause interrupted the speech. “We would have loved to have been able to go through to the Cup final. It would have been awful, but nothing happens kids, this is Vallecas. We are used to these things. Not to a semifinal or to be the best local in Europe. We want you to raise your head. With our support, all together, rowing in the same boat, we will achieve permanence. We have it very difficult, there are very tough teams ahead of us, but together we will manage to stay in the First Division”, he concluded. Not without first singing the ‘Pirate Life’. The perfect end to the party and the best prelude to the expected turning point. Because together, there are no unbreakable seas or impossible ports for the Santa Inés.
