The famous race car driver Cale Yarborough has died. He was 84 years old.

On Sunday, NASCAR president and chief executive officer Jim France said on social media that NASCAR legend Cale Yarborough passed on at the age of 84.

Paris France said in a short statement, “Cale Yarborough was thought to be one of the strongest fighters NASCAR had ever seen.”

On the field and in the record books, Cale stood ahead of his peers because he was smart, tough, and driven.

Both his fans and his opponents looked upward to and respected him. He was comfortable driving a truck as well as a regular car.

On December 31, the race’s organizing company said that NASCAR great Cale Yarborough possessed died. He had been alive for 84 years.

There were three titles won by the NASCAR Cup The series king. He won the Southern 500 a total of five times and the Daytona 500 on four occasions.

When it came to NASCAR Cup Series wins, he matched Jimmie Johnson to sixth place with 83.

A report at The Charlotte Observer claimed the South Carolina guy was very sick and that the family said he had a rare genetic disorder.

Chair and CEO of NASCAR, Jim France, said, “Cale Yarborough proved that he was one of the toughest warriors NASCAR has ever seen.”

“Cale stood distinguished among the others on the track as well as the course of the books because he possessed talent, grit, along with determination.”

It went on to say, “Both competitors and fans looked up to and respected him.” He got along just fine driving both a truck and a stock car.

An obituary from NASCAR says that Yarborough was born upon March 27, 1939, within Forests County, where South Carolina. He was the middle child of three boys.

His father died when he was 11, giving him more duty on the cotton as well as tobacco farm that the his family owned.

He also played a big role in one of its most important NASCAR games ever. They crashed doors as they surged for the lead with the final lap in the the year 1979 Daytona 500. It was either him or Donnie Allison.

There was a fight after the two cars hit. First-to-flag video of NASCAR’s major event showed all of this for the very first time ever on TV.

According to John Dodson, vice president of business relationships and NASCAR at Universal Technical Institute, the Yarborough family was in his thoughts and prayers in April because he had heard that Yarborough’s condition was getting worse.

It wasn’t clear what was wrong with Yarborough. During his stint in NASCAR, Yarborough scored 83 races and came in first 10 times. In NASCAR history, he is one for only two drivers to win three books in a row.

He is now sixth all-time in the NASCAR Cup Series with six wins. He was born in Sardis, South Carolina, on March 27, 1939, as Willie Caleb Yarborough. His dad farmed tobacco.

He drove in his initial NASCAR incident, the Southern 500, in 1957. After a little over 30 years, he stopped raced in Atlanta in 1988.

The two of them share the record for most wins in NASCAR history with 83. There were seven wins at Daytona for Richard Petty, while Yarborough only had four.

on X, Petty posted a note from the family that read in portion, “Richard Petty or the Petty Family send their grief to the Yarborough family.”

Jones and Yarborough are tied for the most NASCAR Cup Race wins with seven each. Johnson said this about Yarborough’s death: “Cale Yarborough turned my childhood hero.”

It is a pleasure to have won 83 Cups, tied with the hero for the most. The person who was “the man” became Cale Yarborough, and people will always remember him. I’m sorry for the loss of Cale’s family.
