Property tycoon David Clowes will become the new owner of Derby County (which plays in the English Third Division) on Wednesday, after his offer has been accepted.
The Rams club is in the hands of administrators and Clowes announced on Friday his desire to remove him from that position after buying the Derbyshire-based firm Clowes Developments, based in Pride Park, the Derby stadium, from the former owner of the Derby, Mel Morris.
Liam Rosenior has been appointed as Derby caretaker manager following the departure of Wayne Rooney, which England and Manchester United’s top scorer announced on Friday. This Monday Rosenior will lead the team at the start of the preseason. Rooney said the team “needs to be led by someone with fresh energy.”
