The derby, for an Everton that aggravates the Liverpool crisis

Everton broke their spell in the Merseyside derby this Saturday by winning at Anfield for the first time in the Premier since 1999 and aggravated the ordeal of their eternal citizen rival, Liverpool (0-2). In addition, for the third time in its history, the 'red' team had 4 consecutive defeats in the English championship. Carlo Ancelotti won the game over Jürgen Klopp. Richarlison and Sigursson from a penalty decided.

Despite coming off a 2-0 win at Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 in Budapest, all the ghosts of Liverpool reappeared against Everton. The Premier's champion got complicated early in the afternoon, since it was in minute 3 that Richarlison finished off a great assist from James Rodríguez and advanced to the 'Toffees'. The Brazilian was one of the protagonists in the 2-2 of October 17 at Goodison Park because a tackle of his injured Thiago Alcántara, who could not reappear until December 30. 6 of 8

From there, Liverpool tirelessly sought to turn the game around, but to no avail. Jordan Pickford (at Goodison Park, author of the tackle that injured Virgil van Dijk) prevented it with 4 good interventions and also Carlo Ancelotti's approach made it very difficult for the 'reds'. An approach that their players embroidered, who knew how to contain Liverpool and take advantage of their opportunities.

Not only that: the curse of injuries continues to haunt Liverpool and this time the victim was its captain, Jordan Henderson, who was replaced by Nat Phillips in the 30th minute. The extent of the ailment is unknown.

After the break Liverpool came out in a whirlwind and with a much better game than in the first half. Sadio Mané and, on their climbs, Trent Alexander-Arnold were the ones who created the most danger. But Pickford and his rear held their ground. Nothing went well for the Premier League champion to avoid that fourth defeat in a row in the tournament, in which he is 16 points behind the leader, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City (who visits Arsenal this Sunday).

To make matters worse, after a pass from a great Richarlison (who repeatedly beat Ozan Kabak's back) to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, he was the subject of a penalty by Alexander-Arnold. Gylfi Sigurdsson made it 0-2, rounding out Everton's party at Anfield. The 'reds' are sixth, 3 points behind Chelsea and the Champions League. The 'Toffees', seventh, with the same ones.
