The Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) defended this Thursday that there was “no inappropriate comment” from referee Pulido Santana in the postponed Real Betis-Getafe match of matchday 3 of LaLiga EA Sports 2024-2025, and requested “the same treatment from all members of football towards the refereeing body”, thus responding to the ‘azulonas’ complaints.
“After reviewing the complete audio recordings of the Real Betis-Getafe match, the RFEF’s CTA has not found any inappropriate phrases or comments from Mr. Pulido Santana or any of the members of the refereeing team,” the committee said in a statement.
In the document, they argue that all members of the refereeing team for the match played at the Benito Villamarín “followed the instructions of utmost respect for the teams, their players and the coaches that the CTA requires of all its members both on and off the field of play.”
“For this reason, this CTA feels entitled to request the same treatment from all football members towards the refereeing body,” the statement concluded, responding to the statements of Getafe’s assistant coach, Patricio Moreno.
After the match, the coach told DAZN that there were “comments from the referee in the opening moments of the match such as ‘I know what you’re coming for, I know what you’re playing for'”. “And that doesn’t seem like respect for a club like Getafe, which has been in the top flight for so many years for a reason. I demand a little respect for Getafe and its players,” said Moreno, who was denied by the CTA.
