The CSD thanks the LPFF, RFEF and referees for unlocking the start of the Women’s Soccer League

MADRID, 15 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Higher Sports Council (CSD) has thanked the Professional Women’s Football League (LPFF), the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the referees for reaching an agreement to unlock the start of the first League season women’s football as a professional in Spain.

In a statement, the CSD also expressed its “recognition”, “affection”, “respect” and “thank you” to the group of referees, “key” in resolving the conflict, which caused the postponement of the first day of the 2022 season -2. 3.

“Every negotiation entails, for the parties, a lowering of the initial expectations. And it is at this point where it must be made clear that the Council, LPFF, RFEF and collegiate associations have been able to renounce some of their claims to launch the competition”, the CSD pointed out in the note.

Thus, the body chaired by José Manuel Franco indicated that it has undertaken to work for the professional recognition of the referees and to pay them 350,000 euros per year during the first three league seasons for their end-of-career funds.

“We want the spirit of agreement to be maintained for the signing of the future coordination agreement, a path that we have paved after deciding and resolving, in several resolutions, key aspects such as the number of teams, promotions and relegations; the designation of the third member both of the Arbitration Committee and the Disciplinary Committee; or the distribution of powers regarding the draw, competition bases, ball, advertising, commercial rights, alignment of soccer players, substitutes and substitutions, tributes and situations of greater cause such as the one caused by COVID ” , desire.

Likewise, the CSD launched an appeal to the league, federation, clubs, players, referees and others involved so that, together, they gradually build “the best women’s soccer competition in the world.”

“We also ask the fans to let themselves be seduced by the quality of our soccer players and fill the stadiums, starting this weekend. Let’s make this dream possible and mark the path that other disciplines must follow, always with the full support of the Council to the recognition of women in sport”, the organization concluded.
