The CSD defends the honorability of its General Director before the summit with LaLiga and the RFEF

The CSD has issued a statement to defend the honor of the General Director of Sports, Joaquin de Aristegui, for the employment of one of his sons with LaLiga: “The CSD will not allow the slightest shadow of doubt to be raised about the honorability of the General Director of Sports, or of any of the public employees who provide their services in this house. The president publicly appreciates once again the strenuous effort that all of them are making under the harsh conditions that the pandemic has imposed on us, to provide a quality public service. “

This Thursday, the meeting between the CSD, the Spanish Football Federation and LaLiga will take place to set the calendar for the next season and resolve the conflict over the number of clubs that will participate. in Second division. The RFEF wants a league with 24 clubs and the LFP wants 22 to make it up. According to some information, such a transcendent summit, which will take place at the headquarters of the Higher Sports Council, will be chaired by Joaquin de Arístegui, whose son Alfonso has been working for a year in the league. Given the doubts that have arisen regarding whether this family relationship could affect De Arístegui's neutrality, the CSD issued a statement on Wednesday to defend its General Director and clarify that “You do not incur any type of incompatibility or conflict of interest in relation to the work of your family member, since he does not occupy a position of responsibility, advice or executive in said association of clubs.”

In his letter from the CSD, he also informs that last July he made a query to the Office of Conflicts to find out if Joaquín de Arístegui incurred some kind of incompatibility. “The response from the Office of Conflicts of Interest was emphatic in the sense that there is no incompatibility that leads the Director General to have to abstain in any procedure related to LaLiga in particular or to football in general. The note is attached for information of the media, at whose disposal the press team is available for any clarification ”, the CSD clarifies in its statement.
