Óscar Cornejo, for his part, has spoken about the “opportunity” that they will have in the public channel with the beginning of this new journey. TVE has a new Board of Directors with a new president and logically we will go knocking on the door when everyone has taken office and the organizational chart has been reconfigured. We will call TVE just as we will continue calling our old house and Atresmedia. We will keep trying.

What projects will you offer to TVE? Do you have any in mind to adapt it to a public channel?

Sometimes we insist on differentiating between what a public and a private chain has to be. Any generalist chain aims to reach the greatest number of people. Public television has to be television that competes and is competitive. From there, we will think about those products that can make public television competitive, just as we have done for 20 years at Mediaset.

Our first call to any communication group is to know what their needs are. From there, once we know the roadmap, we will develop what we deem appropriate to adjust to what they are looking for.

In a hypothetical jump to TVE. Would it mean the end of NQF? Could two of your formats coexist?

The people who make this program are who they are. It is difficult for a person to be in two places at the same time. Perhaps you are assuming that the content we are making is the content that could necessarily be made. And I say it could. I understand that you take many things for granted, but the only thing certain is that an opportunity opens up for us and for the entire sector. All the production companies in the market are currently developing projects to start a ‘harassment and demolition’ next week. There is no audiovisual production company in this country that is not happy that public television is opening the market after a few months of certain paralysis. We are probably not the first producer to call. There will be a queue.

But have there been conversations already or not yet?

No.

Hasn’t the new president called you to prepare something?

I don’t think the times of public television are the same as private television. I don’t think that a television like La 1 or La 2 will call you to launch a program next week, as happened with Paolo Vasile on Mediaset. Next week a path begins, but we do not start it, but public television.

It has always been said that José Pablo López has a certain love for the Sálvame world. In fact, when he was Director of Content, he tried to bring that universe to public television and that put him in conflict with the previous president. Have you noticed that attachment to Sálvame?

José Pablo is a very intelligent person who knows a lot about television and as far as I know, I believe that there is no one in the profession who has not spoken with José Pablo at some point. He is a hyperactive person, who is passionate about his work and who looks for competitive formats for the place where he is. And if for that he has to talk to the entire sector, including us, he does it.
