The Confederation of Supporters Clubs tomb in Laporta

Setback for Laporta in the matter of the rocks. The new Barça board wanted to modify article 16 of its statutes. Basically He wanted to start a new relationship mechanism with his supporters without having to report to the Confederació de Penyes. However, to get the change he had to win the vote by two-thirds. That is, of the 351 delegated members there were, 234 had to vote in favor of the change. And 232 did. Therefore, the Confederació de Penyes will maintain its status.

Last summer, Barça had communicated to the Penyes World Confederation that it was rescinating the agreement it had signed with this entity. The reasons put forward by Barça were economic, structural and organizational. Barça considered that the relationship between the club and the supporters’ clubs had to pass into the hands of the social area and was sure that it would succeed. But the supporters, benefited by the need for the vote to be approved by a two-thirds majority, resisted the onslaught and the Confederació will have to be restored to its functions, at least until the next Assembly.
