The collective agreement of soccer players, an urgent issue to address

Once the established Delegate Commission of the Women’s Professional League; One of the issues to be addressed is the collective agreement for the players in this new professional league. The first in the history of our country, and signed in February 2020.

An agreement that entered into force in September 2019 (retroactively) and that has an expiration date of June 30, 2022 once it was denounced by the AFE in March 2021. A complaint that implies, as signed by the parties in February 2020, the extension for one year and its completion date for the 30th of this month.

It is a capital issue given that, from this date, the players will be temporarily without an agreement waiting for a new one to be closed.

A new text on which the parties (league and unions) are already working but where, as we say, it is essential that the new league close income channels for its clubs that allow modifying the current one that establishes the minimum wage at 16,000 euros at 75% of partiality and 12,000 euros to partial contract. But on the table of this future collective agreement there are other capital issues such as the seniority bonus, family and maternity reconciliation, image rights or occupational risks.

There are also other issues such as the controversial compensation list and clause, suppressing this aforementioned bias, defining in more detail the working day, breaks and vacations Christmas.

Other issues that are to be put on the table have to do with insurance in the event of a disability situation or the existence of a salary guarantee fund, in addition to implementing economic measures for this League Professional and the signing of a commitment on bets and fixes.

A negotiating table where there will be five unions represented starting with FUTPRO, a recently created women’s union, and which has six of the total of twelve that make up this negotiating table. The AFE union will be represented by 4 members, while the table is completed with a representative of Footballers ON, UGT and Workers’ Commissions.
