The fans of Atlético de Madrid have prevailed over those of Real Madrid this Sunday in the traditional Derby of the Fans, which has been held through the streets of the Spanish capital and has brought together more than 8,000 runners.
With the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium as witness, at 9:00 am the starting gun was fired on Calle Padre Damián. The runners ran 10 kilometers through the main arteries of the capital, with special emotion passing through Cibeles and Neptuno or through the Paseo de los Melancólicos, where the now disappeared Vicente Calderón was located.
HOKA athlete Aritz Arrospide was the individual winner by covering the test in a time of 29:50, ahead of Javier Martínez and Reyes Estévez, a three-time medalist in the 1,500m World Championships. Former soccer player Álvaro Arbeloa did not miss the appointment either.
In the women’s event, Madrid’s Diana Martín was crowned at Paseo de los Melancólicos after 35 minutes (34:55) to beat Eva García Morales and Clara López González.
Upon registration, all runners chose which team they would represent; the fans with the best net average of all times of its components would be the winner. The colchoneros registered an average time of 46:35, while the meringues who stayed just a few seconds (46:48). The historical balance continues to be favorable to Real Madrid (7-5).
