The Chargers’ loss to the Packers showed all the problems with their defense during the Brandon Staley era.

With a little over four minutes left, the Green Bay Packers were down by four points and had a third-and-20 that their own 15-yard line. QB Jordan Love got the snap from the shotgun and sat back down to throw.

He moved to the left before throwing a bad pass over the center of the field to target Dontayvion Wicks. A flag came out right after the baseball hit the grass.

Back corner Wicks was coming back from his break in a dig route when Asante Samuel Jr. grabbed him.

Do not interrupt. New set of downs. It was Jordan Love as well as the Packers’ passing game on Sunday.

There was a lot of silence in the Los Angeles Chargers locker room. While quarterback Justin Herbert along with safety Derwin James chatted quietly, many of the other players sat there looking forward, as if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

Their 23–20 loss by the Green Bay Packers in Sunday was their fifth loss by one score this season.

It was another game where the other team’s attack had a great game against the Chargers.

The Detroit Lions’ running game got 200 yards last week against Los Angeles. In the first half, they ran for 177 yards and scored three touchdowns. In at least 30 years, it was the most points the Lions had scored in a half.

Love passed for 322 yards, two scores, and no picks. Love had thrown for more yards than ever before, and the Packers had thrown for more than 300 yards for the first time since 2021, when Aaron Rodgers had been their starter.

When a reporter asked Chargers boss Brandon Staley if he would make big changes to the defense, he said he wouldn’t, just like he did days following the Lions loss.

Staley said on Sunday, “I have full faith.” “I have full faith in the way we play, as I told you from the start.

I have full faith in the way I run the show, the way we teach, and the way we plan and organize. That’s something I’m sure of. We need to keep getting this group to work together.

Los Angeles Chargers coach Brandon Staley made it clear after another game where his team lost by less than a touchdown and gave up a lot of yardage on defense that Sunday’s 23–20 loss to the Packers was not because of a problem with his defensive game plan. He said he has no plans for any changes in that area that this point.

“As I’ve already told you, I’m sure of myself and our way of playing. As the playcaller, I have full faith in myself. And how we teach and plan

“I am sure of that,” Staley told the press. “That’s where it is now: we need to get this group to work together consistently.”

“Okay, stop asking that question. Okay? I’ll be calling the prosecution then. That’s it. You don’t need to ask that question again.” This came after last week’s loss to the Lions, in which the defense let up 533 yards.

The Bolts are now 4-6 on the season and 2-5 in nail-biting games after their loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

As a bonus, it was the second week in a row that the defense had a bad game. In those two games, they gave up a total of 957 yards or 64 points.

The Packers’ defense given up 424 yards. The Packers’ offense has had trouble all season; they hadn’t scored 400 or more yards or thrown for 300 or more yards before Sunday.

Overall, the defense has had a terrible season. From Weeks 1–10, they were near the bottom of the league within yards allowed per game, which made Staley wonder what, if any, changes might be coming for L.A. to fix the long-term problems.
