The CEAR at the Lluís Puig Velodrome is renewed with funds from the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation

MADRID, 18 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Specialized High Performance Cycling Center (CEAR) in Benimámet, at the Lluís Puig Velodrome, has been renovated in the last two years thanks to an agreement between the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC) and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation.

The latest aid has allowed the purchase of cycling equipment and it has been possible to equip a gym in the same velodrome for use by the Spanish and Valencian cycling federations.

The president of the RFEC, José Luis López Cerrón, the president of the Valencian federation (FCCV), Amadeo Olmos, and the director of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, Juan Miguel Gómez, have visited the gym to see the new equipment. Along with them were three Valencian cyclists and members of the FER Project: Sebastián Mora, Ricardo Ten and Ainara Albert.

“We want Valencia to be a benchmark in high-level cycling and for the Spanish team to find in these facilities what they need to be able to come to concentrate and train at this CEAR. The objective is to provide this facility with the best resources so that the Spanish team and the Valencian can train and achieve good results. That the best athletes want and can come here helps us to continue working to turn this land into the Comunitat de l’Esport”, indicated Juan Miguel Gómez.

The president of the RFEC, José Luis López Cerrón, pointed out that thanks to this “fruitful agreement” with the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation they have carried out “important improvements” in a CEAR that is essential for the development of Spanish cyclists and that must count with everything necessary for them to carry out their preparation for international appointments “in optimal conditions”.

Before launching this aid, the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation had already promoted improvements in the CEAR since 2020. With them, the RFEC was able to buy an electric motorcycle and a vehicle, in addition to repairing the velodrome track in 2021.
