The CAS dismisses Munir's appeal, who will not be able to play for Morocco

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected the appeal presented by the Spanish-Moroccan player from Sevilla Munir El Haddadi and by the Moroccan Football Federation against the FIFA decision that prevented the player from being called up by the North African team. “The appeal has been rejected by the CAS and the contested decision has been confirmed,” the arbitration body reported this Friday. The appeal was seen urgently at the request of the parties “for the final decision to be made public before Morocco's next matches at the 2021 African Cup of Nations.”

The corresponding hearing was held on November 4 by videoconference. Consequently, Munir will not be able to play for the Moroccan team, as FIFA ruled a month ago just hours before the Sevilla striker, who was concentrated with the team, played his first friendly match with Morocco. Munir, born in Spain to Moroccan parents 25 years ago, played three games for the Spanish Under-21 team when he was already 21. He also played 10 minutes in 2014 with Vicente del Bosque's senior team. The TAS will publish the grounds for its decision in the coming days.
