The calvary of Ansu Fati: on the verge of the third operation

Ansu Fati is living a real ordeal. Since he injured the meniscus in his left knee at the beginning of November last year who has lived through hell. When he was placed in the hands of the prestigious surgeon Ramón Cugat 4 months of sick leave was predicted after suturing the meniscus. It was the time foreseen in any trauma manual for an injury of this type: three months for healing and one month of field work to discharge.

However, Fati's rehabilitation went from bad to worse. Already in the post-operative period, he had to spend more days than expected admitted to the Quirón Hospital, then his knee was systematically inflated and prevented from starting physiotherapy work. The situation worsened to the point that at the beginning of January he underwent surgery again in secret, without giving any information. The club, to cover its back from this second intervention, claimed he was undergoing regenerative therapy.

But unfortunately this second intervention did not solve the knee discomfort either. In fact, As AS has learned, three weeks ago he suffered a meniscus infection that set off all the alarms.

A confirmation that has come through the journalist Marta Carreras from Catalunya Ràdio who has explained in the ‘Tot Costa’ program that right now there is enormous uncertainty in the medical services about the situation of Fati, cwith the possibility of a new operation on the table.

If this third intervention is confirmed, Fati will definitely have said goodbye to this season and the few options that it still has to play the Eurocup and the Olympics will have evaporated as well.

Ansu Fati: “It was arriving in Barcelona and I no longer want to leave”

The Barcelona footballer showed his most personal side in a report for Esquire magazine. Despite the ordeal he is suffering with the meniscus injury, his wish was to return to the pitch before the end of the season. Now, after failing to overcome that ailment in a satisfactory way, their hopes may be dashed.

Ansu Fati arrived in Spain in 2009 to reunite with his father, who came first in search of work. The Barcelona player remembers the moment with a mixture of nerves and illusion. “We did not know the language nor did we know anyone. Coming to a new place is a bit scary because you don't know what you are going to find, but it was compensated by the joy of meeting my father again “.

For him, his family is everything. Then came the football adventure at Barça. “Barcelona first signed my brother and then me. It took me a lot to come, because I had all my life in Seville, my friends, they took good care of me … but it was getting here and I didn't want to leave“recalls the young player.

The azulgrana lived a very sweet moment before the serious injury: “When my debut boom was, I didn't look at social networks much, because I knew they would talk about me… If you believe it too much, you do not perform the same. Also, getting to the first team and making your debut is not the most difficult thing. The most difficult thing is being there for many years. “
