The Bribon 500, European Champion of 6 Meters for the third time in a row

MADRID, 10 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Bribon 500 crew lifted the 6-meter European champion trophy this Saturday in Cascais (Portugal) for the third time in a row, after their triumphs in 2021 and 2018 in Sanxenxo and France, respectively, while the other representative of Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, Titia, has won the bronze.

Out of a total of eight races, the Bribon 500 accumulated four wins, three second places and finished third on one occasion, the result of the only race held this Saturday. Thus, one of the keys to becoming champion was the regularity and excellent work of Pedro Campos’ team, which beat Catalin Trandafir’s Romanian Essentia by seven points, one of the most modern Classics in the fleet.

The Bribon 500 team in Cascais was made up of Pedro Campos, Ross MacDonald, Jane Abascal, Alberto Viejo, Eduardo Marín, Roi Álvarez and David Louzao. For all of them, Campos had words of praise. “I have to congratulate above all the team, the crew and the team in charge of taking care of the boat, for the excellent work that has been done throughout the championship and that has allowed us to clearly win our third consecutive European,” he said.

“Now we return to Galicia to sail again at the end of the month in our Sanxenxo waters, but we are delighted and proud to continue promoting Galicia and the Xacobeo wherever we go, in this case in the neighboring country,” he added.

With this victory, the Bribon 500 adds to its track record, emerging as the classic 6 Meter to beat worldwide, after being proclaimed world champion in 2017 and 2019 and adding, with this Saturday, three Europeans (2018, 2021 and 2022) .

In addition, the owner and crew member of the Titia Alicia Freire and the skipper Mauricio Sánchez-Bella, along with Pepe Lis, Pancho González, Gerardo Prego and Jose Señoráns, were third in this European championship. Freire also wins the Lucie Trophy for the best ranked female crew member of the entire tournament, including the Open and Classic classes.
