Of the four major tournaments, only one resisted black tennis players, which was the French Open, better known as Roland Garros. As fate would have it, that privilege was reserved for a local player like Frenchman Yannick Noah, who in 1983 became the first black tennis player (and the only one to date) to win the Musketeers Cup. He did it in a big way, defeating the current champion, Mats Wilander, 6-2, 7-5, 7-6 in the final. Since then, no Frenchman has been crowned again on Parisian clay.
