The Australian Peter Bol, fourth in the 800 meters in Tokyo, suspended for doping

MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA), 20 Ene. (dpa/EP) –

The Australian Athletics Federation has suspended Peter Bol, fourth in the 800m final at the Tokyo Olympics, for testing positive for EPO in an anti-doping test.

According to the report, Bol’s A sample of an out-of-competition urine sample taken in October 2022 showed the presence of the blood doping substance EPO. Bol, 28, denies doping.

“To be clear: I have never in my life purchased, possessed, administered or used synthetic EPO or any other prohibited substance,” Bol said on Twitter.

In addition, he asked that “all of Australia” believe him and wait for the trial first. Bol wants his B sample tested, which should happen in February.

Federation president Peter Bromley said the priority was “to ensure the proper process is followed and not undermined by undue speculation.” “We will continue to do whatever is appropriate to ensure that Peter and other athletes, coaches and support staff receive the support they need,” he concluded.
